Communication is the first important step to a healthy father-daughter relationship.
• Daughters don't want their parent(s) to fix their problems, they just want someone to listen and understand what they are going through.
• Keeping the lines of communications open requires a lot of time, patience and a willingness to make it a priority for both of you.
• Put aside your manliness and show sympathy while talking to your daughter.
It seems that many dads don't completely understand what their daughters are saying and will make their situation into something that they will understand which often leads to arguments.
The best advice I can give you when communicating with your daughter is to be calm and enduring.

You want to make sure that what you communicate to each other, you comprehend fully. If not, there will be problems that will arise.
